Prior Lodge | A peaceful Blue Mountains retreat

Prior Lodge is a welcoming place to slow down, share meals and enjoy time together. Set among tranquil gardens at the top of Lovel Street, it offers views of Mount Solitary and the Jamison Valley. Katoomba town centre and train station are just 450 metres away, and Leura Village is a scenic 1.5 km stroll.

Wake to birdsong and take in the views from the sunroom or deck. Cook together in the fully equipped kitchen, which has two dishwashers, and gather around the dining table. There are spacious living areas for games and conversation, as well as quiet corners to read or relax. On sunny days, enjoy the garden; in the evening, settle in by the fire.

Wi-Fi is available. There are no TVs in the home, as the owners value the chance to gather and connect without screens.

A little history

The original home was built by Sir William Lyne, Premier of New South Wales from 1899 to 1901 and later a federal cabinet minister under Edmund Barton and Alfred Deakin.

Lyne officially opened the Federal Pass Track in 1900. Built to connect the Katoomba and Leura Falls areas, parts of this historic route remain accessible today. Lyne’s Point lookout is named in his honour.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Prior Lodge has seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms and can accommodate up to 14 guests. The bedroom arrangements are:

• Bedroom 1: One queen bed and ensuite

• Bedroom 2: One queen bed, one single bed and ensuite

• Bedrooms 3, 4 and 5: Each has two long single beds or one king bed, plus an ensuite. Please let us know your preferred configuration at least one week before arrival.

• Bedrooms 6 and 7: Each has two bunk beds, sleeping up to four guests, and a separate bathroom. These rooms are available on request for an additional fee.

Good to know

• The base tariff covers up to six guests. Please enter the correct number of guests when booking so the price can be calculated accurately. Maximum occupancy is 14.

• For example, a booking for 10 guests would usually use five bedrooms. If you need two additional bedrooms, an extra charge of $120 per room applies to cover linen and cleaning.

• Each additional bunk bedroom costs $240 per stay. Please request it when booking.

• Minimum stays are three nights on long weekends and four nights over Easter.

• Beds are made up with quality linen. Doonas, pillows, bath towels, bath mats, hand towels and kitchen tea towels are provided.

• Please request any changes to the bed configuration in the three flexible bedrooms at least one week before check-in.

• Please respect our neighbours by keeping noise to a considerate level and entering and leaving quietly.

• Prior Lodge is a family-friendly retreat, not a party house.
